What SEER Measures

SEER vs. SEER2

SEER2 is an updated testing standard (implemented industry-wide in recent years) that measures efficiency under conditions closer to real-world operation than the original SEER standard. You’ll see SEER2 on newer equipment; the numbers aren’t directly comparable to older SEER ratings, so don’t assume a SEER2 rating that looks similar to an old SEER number represents the same efficiency.
